Nationwide  Theater named after Sos Sargsyan was founded in 1991, on the initiative of Sos Sargsyan. The first performance was the play "The Mayor of Sanita" by Eduardo de Filippo. Among the performances are: H. Hakobyan's "Mountain Tulips" (1993), Simon's "Red-hot Lover in Bed" (1994), Moliere's "Tartufe" (1998), all three directed by H. Gasparyan, "We" (based on Ler Kamsar, 1993, directed by Yervand Ghazanchyan), William Saroyan's "A Cup of Kindness" (1994), Shakespeare's "King Lear" (1996), both directed by S. Sargsyan, Mrozhek's "On the Open Sea", K. Maniet's "Oscar" (both 1995, directed by D. Hakobyan). The theater also stages children's performances (Tumanyan's "Anban Hurin" and others).
There were many famous actors in the theater, honored artist of Armenia Mayis Karagyozyan worked in the theater in different years, actors G. Sedrakyan, T. Nersisyan, H. Vanyan, artist G. Nalchajyan and others. In the theater troupe (1999) H. Gasparyan (chief director since 1995), composer, Honored Artist of Armenia Martin Vardazaryan, Honored Artist of Armenia Sh. Ghazaryan, artists Galya Novents, Karen Janibekyan, D. Hakobyan (also director), A. Mkrtchyan, Anna Elbakyan, Karine Janjughazyan, A. Galstyan, Narek Haykazyan, Zohrak Bek-Gasparents and others.
